Tallinn’s Old Town is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What makes Tallinn unique is that it is northern Europe’s best preserved walled medieval city. Most buildings date from the 13th-16th centuries, very much of the historic and old atmosphere have been preserved almost intact till today, despite many wars. Estonia has been ruled by various foreign powers over the centuries including Danish, German, Swedish and Russian periods.
